DeWayne Campbell Anderson was born Oct. 7, 1919 to Ingewald and Ednah Goldsworthy Anderson. He died Dec. 8, 1991 and is buried in Lawn Hill Cemetery, Stanhope, IA.
Dr. Anderson served with the U.S. Army in World War II as a medical officer in the 11th Armored Division. He served 20 months in the European Theater.

Dr. DeWayne C. Anderson, 72, a longtime Stanhope area physician, died Sunday evening, Dec. 9, at Mary Greeley Medical Center where he had been a patient for one day. He had been in failing health since October.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City, Rev. Mark Buchhop officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery southeast of Stanhope. Graveside military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191 of Webster City. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City is after 5 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.
DeWayne Campbell Anderson, son of Inaewald and Ednah (Goldsworthy) Anderson, was born Oct. 7, 1919 in Chicago, Ill. He attended Stanhope High School, graduating in 1936. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1940, and from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., in 1943. He served an internship at City Hospital in St. Louis for nine months.
He joined the U.S. Army in December 1943, and served as a medical officer in the 11th Armored Division. He served 20 months in the European Theater, and was discharged in June 1946.
He then served an internship at Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis, and later joined the practice of J.L. Hutton in St. Louis for one year.
He married Harriette L. Kraft on April 4, 1948, in Murphysboro, Ill. The couple resided in St. Louis, and in November 1948, moved to Stanhope, where Dr. Anderson practiced until June 1971. In August 1971, he joined the staff of the McFarland Clinic in Ames, where he practiced until his retirement in July 1985. Following his retirement, the couple continued to reside in Stanhope.
He is survived by his wife, Harriette, Stanhope, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Mark and Paula Millikan, Webster City and Dennis and Margaret Karst, Rochester, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dr. Anderson was baptized at the Christian Church in Stanhope, and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City. He was a life member of the American Medical Association, the State Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, was a member of the Story County Medical Society, and was a former member of the Hamilton County Medical Society and the American Legion Post in Stanhope.
