Mrs. B. M. Amos has received word that her husband, Pfc. Bill M. Amos, has arrived in England. He is with the engineer combat battalion and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Amos, 116 South Foster avenue.

Billy M. “Jug" Amos was born Feb. 14, 1924 to Albert Dee and Margaret Welker Davis. He died Sept. 24, 2016 and is buried in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA.
Cpl. Amos served in World War II with the U.S. Army 149th Combat Engineer Battalion Special Services Brigade during the invasion of France at Omaha Beach, Normandy and Northern France. He went to the 17th Armed Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He served in the ETO from D-Day to Berlin, receiving the Silver Star and also several other prestigious medals and other citations.
