PRISONERS OF WAR FROM HENRY COUNTY ARE LISTED
Henry county relatives of men who were prisoners of war in Germany anxiously await word from them. All likely have been freed, information from Germany indicates, but the mail facilities out of the country have broken down temporarily.
A list of the prisoners from the county has been compiled by the News. It may not include all. Corrections and additions should be mailed or telephoned to the News office.

Robert Stephen Wray AKA Robert Tackleson was born Oct. 9, 1916 to Ed and Grace Wray Tackleson. He died Apr. 27, 2012 and is buried in Swedesburg, Cemetery, Swedesburg, IA.
Maj. Wray served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was the Commanding Officer of the 34th Pursuit Squadron, flying P-40s. He was Gen. Wainwright’s Air Officer, Provost Marshall and photography officer for Clark and Nichols Field in the Philippines. He was one of the few survivors of The Bataan Death March and was a POW for over three and a half years. He received several awards and medals including the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
