NEWS About MEN AND WOMEN IN SERVICE

ATC AIR BASE, DAKAR, FRENCH WEST AFRICA—T/3 Raymond L. Wenger, son of Mrs. Leona Blanche Wenger, 1225 Sixth avenue, Marion, is an automobile mechanic assigned to Mallard Field, Dakar, in the North African division of the Air Transport command.  The North African division has more than 10,000 miles of air routes.  In a recent month its aircraft totaled more then 41,000 flying hours, the equivalent to five years in the air.  While stationed in the U. S., he served at Normoyle Ordnance Motor base, Normoyle, Tex., Camp Blanding, Fla., and also served at Fort Warren, Wyo., Fort Lewis, Wash., and Fort Ord, Calif.  Overseas 26 months, he is situated within a twenty-minute drive of Dakar, the quaint seaport capital of French colonial Senegal.  T/3 Wenger, a former student of the Coggon high school, prior to his induction June 6, 1941, was a sheet metal worker and pitch boiler operator.
