IN UNIFORM
Vaughn (“Skip”) Weidel, grandson of Mrs. A. V. Weidel, 3436 Third avenue, is with the 28th regiment, marine corps, on Iwo island. He is the 17-year-old son of Vaughn Weidel, former Sioux Cityan, now in the advertising business in New York City. It is members of the 28th regiment who are reported to have planted the United States flag on the summit of Mount Suribachi.
