Dies in Germany
NEOLA – Mr. and Mrs. William Waters received word from the government Wednesday that their son, Sgt. James Waters, had died in Germany on Oct. 5. Sgt. Waters, 23, had been overseas since February. He has four other brothers in the service.

RETURN BODIES OF 5 COUNTY SOLDIERS
20 Southwest Iowans on Carroll Victory
Bodies of 20 southwest Iowans, including five from Pottawattamie county, have been returned to the United States from Europe aboard the army transport Carroll Victory, the department of the army announced Wednesday.
Three of the county soldiers are from Council Bluffs. They are Maj. John Robert Blaylock, son of County Auditor John F. Blaylock; Cpl. Elmer Reynolds, son of Mrs. Alice P. Carroll, 1223 Twenty-first avenue; and 2nd Lt. James J. Friend, son of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Friend, 902 Avenue F.

The other two county soldiers are Tech. 4/g Jack L. Swanson, son of Mrs. Leorna McKeown, route 1, Honey Creek, and Tech. 4/g James M. Waters, son of William H. Waters of Neola.
Jeep Accident Fatal.
Sgt. Waters died in a Regensberg, Germany, hospital Oct. 5, 1945, from a head injury suffered in a jeep accident. He was born at Woodbine, Feb. 22, 1922, and graduated from high school at Persia. He entered the army in November, 1942.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Waters of Neola; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Monahan, Portsmouth; seven brothers, William B., of Council Bluffs, Wilbur J. and Leo V., of Omaha, Harry L., of Kalamazoo, Mich., Carrol of San Francisco, just discharged from the marine corps, and Wendell Charles and Joe Edward Waters, at home; and a grandmother, Mrs. Hester Haner of Woodbine.
Heft funeral home of Woodbine will be in charge of funeral services and burial.

Rites at Woodbine for Former Neolan
WOODBINE – Funeral services were held Monday at Woodbine for Tech 4/g James W. Waters, formerly of Neola, who was killed in a jeep accident in Germany in 1945. The Rev. J. S. Wood officiated. Burial was in Woodbine cemetery.
