Private First Class Worth Walker, who has served more than two years with the 34th division and was injured in North Africa last July has spent a 30-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. C.P. Stevens, 2406 Grand Avenue. He since has reported for duty as an instructor in a transportation company at Camp Fannin, Texas. His brother, Kenneth Walker, in the navy, has been promoted to aviation machinist mate third class and is on duty overseas.

PFC. OLIVER WALKER DIES
Former East High Pupil Wounded at Iwo Jima
Pfc. Oliver P. Walker, jr., died March 24 of wounds suffered in action at Iwo Jima, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Walker, 3117 Laurel avenue, from the Navy department. He was a member of the marine amphibious corps.
Pvt. Walker, born November 29, 1918, attended East high school. He joined the marines December 26, 1941, and was last home on furlough about a year ago.
Survivors include three sisters, Virginia and Marilyn, pupils at East high school, and Mrs. Charlotte Ashton, employed by the War Department at Washington. Two brothers are in the armed forces. Pfc. Kenneth Walker is serving with the army in the Philippines and Walter Walker, ship’s cook second class, is in the Solomons. Both have been overseas two years.

Kenneth Gerald Walker was born May 9, 1923 to George R. and Rosabelle Ida McWilliams Walker. He died June 30, 1959 and is buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
