Reported Missing, Now Back on Duty
Reported last week by the War Department as missing in action in Germany since March 9, Pvt. Robert E. Uhl, was back on duty with his infantry company March 13, according to a letter written on this date and received last week by his wife, the former Miss Shirley Zediker, who makes her home here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Racy Zediker. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Uhl, of Mapleton.
In his letter Pvt. Uhl states he was wounded in one shoulder while fighting in Germany early in March, that he had recovered and was back with his infantry outfit when he wrote the letter. He is 19 years old and was married to Miss Zediker in March, 1943, in Dodge City, Kan.
Prior to entering the Army in June, 1944, he was a truck driver here for Ray Renibold. He received his basic training with the AAA at Camp Stewart, Ga. He spent a furlough here in November, then being in infantry training at Camp Howze, Texas. He went to Fort Meade, Md., in January, going overseas only a few weeks ago. He has served with the infantry in France, Belgium and Germany.

Robert Edward Uhl was born Apr. 23, 1926. He died Apr. 2, 1945 and is buried in Saint Marys Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton, IA.
Pvt. Uhl served in World War II with the US Army 47th Infantry, 9th Division.
