O, Happy Day
.
DES MOINES, (AP) – Warrant Officer E. L. Stuckrath is a happy man again. He’s been ordered to sea.
Known by his fellows as “the original Barnacle Bill,” because of his 30 years and 10 months in the navy, Stuckrath, 47, completed five years as a navy recruiter here Thursday.
“I was just thinking here’s my second year coming on and here I am stuck at a desk in landlocked Iowa. Then my orders came through,” he beamed.
He served on a destroyer in the first World war.
Last June he enlisted his son, Edward Leroy, Jr., in the navy. Mrs. Stuckrath and another son and daughter are all employed in a San Diego aircraft plant.
