SECOND MEMBER OF STEEN FAMILY KILLED IN ACTION
Pfc. Mike Steen, 24-year-old former Sioux Cityan attached to an anti-aircraft unit, was killed in action in France, the War Department has informed his mother, Mrs. J. Steen of Los Angeles.
A brother, Stanley (“Pat”) Steen, also gave his life in France, July 26, of this year.
The former entered the service in February of 1943, and was stationed at Camp Haan, Cal. He reached England July 1 and was sent to France July 26.
While in Sioux City the young man was a Tribune carrier and was employed also as a Western Union messenger. Prior to entering the service he was employed by the Southern Pacific railroad at Los Angeles.
Surviving are his mother and two sisters, Helen and Wanda (“Bobbie”) Steen, also of Los Angeles.

Emerald Lemoyne “Mike” Steen was born June 4, 1920 to Enoch Conrad and Johanna Solem Steen. He died Dec. 1944 and is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA.
