IN UNIFORM
Julius Shkurensky, copilot on a B-24 Liberator in the 13th army air force “Bomber Barons” in the southwest Pacific, recently has been commissioned a second lieutenant. He was a flight officer. The airman has been overseas since May 25, 1944, and has more than 30 missions to his credit, including missions over the gas and oil refineries at Balikpapan, Borneo and the airdromes in the Philippines. His record of never having a man injured is still intact. His toughest mission, he states, was a raid over Truk. Lt. Shkurensky is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shkurensky, 1719 Sixth street, and his wife resides at 921 11th street. He attended Central high school and Morningside college, participating in football and basketball at both schools.

Second Lt. Julius Shkurensky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shkurensky 1719 Sixth street, has been presented the air medal at an advanced 13th army air force Liberator base in the southwest Pacific. He received the award “for meritorious achievement while participating in sustained operational flight missions against the enemy in the southwest Pacific.” Copilot of a B-24, he has completed more than 35 missions, and has bombed such targets as Yap, Palau, Balikpapan and several targets in the Philippines. He has been overseas since May 25, 1944. His wife, Mrs. Delores Shkurensky, lives at 921 11th street.
