Pvt. Ray H. Schroeder has returned to his duties at Camp Claiborne, La., after spending a 13-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder and his wife, all of Wilton, and with other friends and relatives.

WILTON SOLDIER REPORTED WOUNDED ON OFFICIAL LIST
PFC. Ray H. Schroeder, Wilton, is listed as wounded in action in the European area in an official announcement of the War Department distributed in an Associated Press message from Washington. The list contains the names of 41 Iowa soldiers wounded in action in three theaters of war.

Wilton—Pfc. Ray Schroeder, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder, who reside north of Wilton, has been missing in action in Germany since Nov. 25.
The message came today to his parents in a telegram from the War Department.
Pfc. Schroeder entered the service in December, 1942, training at Camp Claiborne, La., and Camp Hood, Tex. He has been overseas since last March, serving with an infantry division.

PFC. RAY SCHROEDER—Pfc. Ray Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder, who lived north of Wilton, has been missing in action in Germany since Nov. 25, 1944, his parents were informed in December. Pfc. Schroeder entered service in December, 1942, and went overseas in March, 1944. He was with an infantry division.

PFC. RAY H. SCHROEDER—A message received after another section of the paper listing Pfc. Ray H. Schroeder as missing in action had been printed, informed Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder of Wilton that their son had returned to duty in Luxembourg on Nov. 25.

PROMOTION REPORTED.
Word has been received by Mrs. Ray Schroeder of Wilton that her husband, PFC. Ray Schroeder, has been promoted from the rank of private first class to sergeant. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder of Wilton, rural route No. 1, and his wife and son also reside there.
Sgt. Schroeder, who has been overseas since March of 1944, has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

S/Sgt. Ray Schroeder was wounded in action in Germany on April 7, 1945, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder, of Wilton.
The nature of the wounds and in what action they were received was not disclosed in the message.

Ray Henry Schroeder was born Apr. 25, 1921 to Otto and Hilda Sophia Martin Schroeder. He died Jan. 7, 1977 and is buried in South Bethel Cemetery, Tipton, IA.
