SGT. ELBERT J. SANDERSON DIES
Sergeant Bluff Man Was with Third Army in Germany
Sgt. Elbert J. Sanderson was killed in action March 19 while serving with the 42d tank division of the Third army in Germany, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sanderson of Sergeant Bluff were notified Tuesday evening by the War Department.
Sgt. Sanderson, born July 23, 1907, at Harrison City, Ia., entered the army June 27, 1941, and received his basic training at Camp Polk, La. After attending a tank mechanic school at Fort Knox, Ky., he was transferred to Camp Cooke, Cal. He was sent overseas last October and participated in the Battle of the Belgium bulge December 16.
Survivors, besides his parents, include two sisters, Mrs. George Morrison jr., of Honey Creek, Ia., and Mrs. C. F. Clayton of Pierson, Ia.; three brothers, C. R. Sanderson of Manderia, Cal.; Nate Sanderson, Jackson, Neb.; and Roy Sanderson, of Sergeant Bluffs.

ALBERT J. Sanderson was born July 23, 1907 to Joseph Emil and Ida Billerbeck Sanderson. He died Mar. 19, 1945 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
