On Staff of Air Force Paper for Yanks in India
Hartley, Ia.—Special: Cpl. Leo Rasmussen of Hartley is with the 20th bomber command in India where he is a war writer on the staff of a new publication, Superfort, published there.
Rasmussen, former Iowa radio announcer and newscaster, also broadcasts world news daily prior to camp motion picture shows, part of the 20th’s orientation program. Recently he toured the Superfortress bases in India as master-of-ceremonies for the Andre Kostalanetz-Lily Pons U.S.O. troupe. These extra duties are in addition to his regular assignment with the command’s information-education branch of the personnel section.
The 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Mourith Rasmussen, Hartley, has been overseas with the pioneer strategic long range bombardment unit since last March and is entitled to wear the Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon with four bronze battle stars. Prior to entering the army air forces, he was production manager and chief newscaster for a station at Spencer, Ia. He is a graduate of Hartley high school.

Leo G. Rasmussen was born Apr. 7, 1924 to Mourith and Trenka Berna Dornbusch Rasmussen. He died Dec. 17, 2011 and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, IA.
