Donald G. Pershing has left for San Diego, Cal., following enlistment in the marines. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rogers Sergeant Bluff, with whom he made his home.

PFC. DONALD G. PERSHING DIES
Sergeant Bluffs Youth Wounded in Action on Iwo Jima
Pfc. Donald Gene Pershing, 18, son of Mrs. Paul Leahy of Sergeant Bluffs, died March 10, as a result of wounds suffered in action on Iwo Jima, according to a telegram received by his mother.
Pfc. Pershing was born in Sergeant Bluffs, and lived there most of his life. He enlisted in the Marine Corps January 18, 1944, when he was 17. He was in the 25th regiment of the Fourth Marine division.
Survivors, besides his mother, are two sisters, Sharon Pershing of Sergeant Bluffs, and Carmen Pershing of Los Angeles, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rogers of Sergeant Bluffs.
