Two Sioux Cityans Given Promotions

Two Sioux Cityans were among the eight Iowans to recently received promotions, the war department announced Saturday.

Promoted from the rank of second lieutenant to first lieutenant were Clarence G. Pechacek and Louise M. Lang.

Lieut. Pechacek, son of Frank J. Pechacek, 4620 Country Club Boulevard is stationed at Greensboro, N.C.

Lieut. Lang is a member of the army nurse corps.

IN UNIFORM

Clarence G. Pechacek, son of Frank J. Pechacek, 4620 Country Club boulevard, has been promoted from the rank of first lieutenant to that of captain. His promotion was announced at Eighth air force headquarters in England, where he is serving as an assistant judge advocate. Capt. Pechacek formerly was a practicing attorney in Washington D.C., and now performs legal work for the Eighth air forces. He is a graduate of Central high school, attended Iowa State College and Georgetown University law school in Washington D.C., where he obtained his law degree. He joined the army on July 22, 1942, and attended several radar schools before being assigned to his present position in June, 1944.

Clarence Gregory Pechacek was born July 30, 1910 to Frank J. and Nellie Jordon Pechacek. He died Aug. 8, 2005 and is buried in Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Taneytown, MD.
