Paul F. Paulson, of Sioux City, was recently promoted to first lieutenant immediately following an American raid on Frankfort, in which Paulson fought off a swarm of German planes with one motor missing on his Flying Fortess. He attained a speed of 320 miles an hour in a dive to avoid the German planes. Paulson's parents live at Hinton, Ia., but he lived and worked in Sioux City before entering the service. His first training for the air corps was received at Grand Island, Neb.
