MEET FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS
Anthon, Ia.—Special: Sgt. Joseph McDermott, left, and his brother, Vincent McDermott, shipfitter second class, had their first reunion in three years at Sgt. McDermott’s station in Kelly field, San Antonio, Tex. Sgt. Joseph McDermott, crew chief on a plane, returned to the States recently after 30 months overseas, while his brother has 36 months overseas service in the South Pacific to his record. A brother Leo recently was inducted in the service and is taking boot training at the Great Lakes naval training station. They are sons of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. McDermott, of Anthon.

Our Neighbors in Service
Anthon, Iowa – Vincent E. McDermott, shipfitter second class, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. McDermott recently received a commendation from his commanding officer for “meritorious performance of duty" aboard the U.S.S. Louisville during the operations of United States naval forces against the Japanese on Luzon January 6, 1945 when his ship was attacked and damaged by enemy aircraft.
