Lawrence “Tack” McCleerey surprised his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur M. McCleerey, when he arrived here early Sunday morning to spend a 15-day leave. Tack has been serving with the Navy in the South Pacific for the last several months.

Lawrence Arthur “Tack” McCleerey was born Aug. 3, 1923 to Thomas Arthur and Viola Caroline Martindale McCleerey. He died May 16, 1987 and is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, IA.
