SGT. FRANCIS LEE KILLED IN
ACTION IN SOUTHWEST PACIFIC
Attended High School Here;
Parents Are Former Residents
Word has been received here that Master Sgt. Francis Lee of the army air corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lee, former residents, was killed in action in the southwest Pacific area on Aug. 7.
Sergeant Lee made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thornton, Sr., 1404 Hampshire avenue northeast, while he attended the Mason City high school.
He was a mechanic aboard the aircraft carrier Hornet when it carried planes to their famous bombing mission [The Doolittle Raid, April of 1942] over Tokyo.
