William Kew Says Thanks But the Censor Says No!
William R. Kew, aviation ordnanceman third class, recently received an autograph book, which was full of messages from friends and former teachers. Stationed as he is in the Solomon islands, when it came time to write and thank all the persons who had remembered him, he betook himself to the censor.
There he learned that he could not write thank you notes to all his friends. Believing that seldom does such a fine excuse arise for not writing, we decided that we would carry Mr. Kew’s fervent thanks to all those who wrote to him.
He has been overseas for eleven months, and has been in the Navy since Feb. 16, 1942. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kew, 1011 Jefferson avenue northwest, he is a graduate of Mason City schools.
He took boot training at the Great Lakes station, and then stayed there for seven months.
