Minden Air Sergeant Killed in Plane Crash
Two Iowans, including S. Sgt. Lloyd G. Kadel of Minden, were among the crew of 10 Hamilton field, Calif., airmen killed Saturday when their B-24 Liberator bomber crashed in the Santa Catalina mountain range about32 miles northeast of Tucson, Ariz.
Col. L. K. Rich, commanding officer of the Davis-Monthan army base at Tucson, revealed the identification of the two Iowa men. In addition to Sgt. Kadel, Sgt. Charles W. Bishop of Norwalk was killed.

Plan Services for Lloyd Kadel
A short service will be held at the Tyler funeral home Sunday at 12:45 p. m. for S. Sgt. Lloyd G. Kadel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kadel of Minden, who died in a Liberator bomber crash in the Santa Catalina mountain range northeast of Tucson, Ariz., Saturday.
A regular service will be held in the Congregational church at Minden at 2 p. m., followed by a military service at the Minden cemetery by the Minden post of the American Legion.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Ronald of Avoca; five sisters, Mrs. Willis Lee of Minden, Mrs. Rolla Sperry and Mrs. Merlin Tooley of Omaha, and Edna and Arleen, both at home.
Further details of the crash have not been reported.

Rites for Sgt. Kadel Set for 2 P. M. Sunday
MINDEN – Funeral services for S. Sgt. Lloyd Kadel, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Kadel, one of the crew of 10 killed in a Liberator crash last week near Tucson, Ariz., will beheld Sunday at 2 p. m. at the Congregational church, with the Rev. G. B. Baumann officiating.
Sgt. Kadel was an aerial engineer and gunner and just prior to his death had been stationed at March field, Calif.
He is survived by his parents, five sisters, Mrs. Hester Lee, Miss Edna Mae Kadel, Arleen Kadel, all of Minden; Mrs. Helen Sperry and Mrs. Velma Tooley, both of Omaha; and a brother, Ronald Kadel of Avoca.
The Tyler funeral home of Council Bluffs is in charge.
