Learn Husband Killed in Action Abroad
Mrs. [Edna] Everett Hoover received a message from the war department Friday afternoon that her husband, Pvt. Everett Hoover was killed in action in Germany, March 26. Everett was 33 years of age, had lived in Walnut all his life. He was inducted July 16, 1944, was home on furlough in December, and left for overseas in January. He served in the 7th army, 3rd division. Surviving besides his wife are two children, Donald, 8, Carolyn, 5, his mother Mrs. Martha Hoover, three brothers, Henry, Melvin, Raymond, all living in this vicinity, and one sister, Mrs. Violet Brewster of Hutchinson, Kan.

Memorial Services for Walnut Soldier
WALNUT – Memorial services for Pfc. Everett Hoover will be conducted at the auditorium Sunday, 2 p. m. The services will be under the direction of American Legion Post 422, which will act as guard of honor and present colors.
Pfc. Hoover was killed in action March 26 in Germany, where he served with the 7th army.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edna Hoover, two children, his mother, Martha Hoover, three brothers, Henry, Melvin, Raymond and one sister, Mrs. Violet Brewster of Hutchinson, Kan.

Return War Dead Here for Burial
List Includes Six Pottawattamie Men
Bodies of six Pottawattamie county war dead, four from Council Bluffs and one each from Walnut and Oakland have been returned to the United States aboard the army transport Carroll Victory from Europe.

With 3rd Division
Pvt. Everett Hoover, 33, was killed in action in Germany, March 26, 1945. He was the son of Martha Hoover of Walnut and had lived in the Walnut community most of his life. He entered the army July 16, 1944, and went overseas with the 3rd division of the 7th army. The body will be shipped to Taylor funeral home at Atlantic. Burial will be in Walnut cemetery.
Survivors are: his widow, Edna Hoover, two children, Donald, 11, and Carolyn, 8, at home; his mother, Mrs. Martha Hoover, all of Walnut; and one sister, Mrs. Violet Brewster of San Diego, Calif.

Pvt. Everett Hoover
WALNUT – The body of Pvt. Everett Hoover, returned war dead, will arrive Wednesday. Memorial services will be held at the Walnut Presbyterian church at 2 p. m. Thursday. Burial will be in Walnut cemetery. All stores and businesses will close.
The Walnut American Legion will have charge of the service.
