Joins WAC to Replace Husband

“I want to take my husband’s place.”

Those were just about the first words that Dorothy O. Holm, Route 3, said when she walked into WAC recruiting headquarters. Her husband, Tech. T. Sgt. Darcy L. Holm, a flight engineer with the 14th air force B-24 group in China, was recently killed in action.

And she’s going to get her wish. She has been assigned to the army air forces and has been recommended for clerk-typist duty. When she completes her six weeks of basic training, Private Holm will be assigned to one of the many army air force installations in this country.

Besides taking her husband’s place in the fight, she will also be working on the same team as her brother, M. Sgt. Carl R. Jordan, who is with the army air forces somewhere in the south Pacific.

Before enlisting in the WAC, she was a crystal finisher for the Scientific Radio Products company and is a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High school. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jordan, live on Route 3.
