Sheldon Sergeant Reported Missing Killed in France
Sheldon, Ia.—Special: Sgt. Harry D. Hedges, 19, a grandson of Mrs. Harry Hedges, was killed in action in France on December 12, according to word received here Sunday. Recently word was received he had been missing since December 12.
Sgt. Hedges was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hedges, formerly of Sheldon, who now reside in Alameda, Cal. He entered the service in April 1943, after which he received training for the infantry at Columbia university. He was graduated from Alameda high school, where he was class president in his senior class.
He visited relatives here early last summer when he was granted a furlough before going overseas.
