MARINE OFFICER COMMENDS SIOUX CITYAN AND THREE OTHER IOWANS

For unselfish devotion to duty during the Japanese shelling of a Solomons base in March, the four Iowa Marines, above, all ground crewman for a Marine aviation group, were commended by Marine Maj. Gen. Ralph J. Litchell for their unselfish devotion to duty, disregarding their own personal safety in order that the aircraft assigned them could continue to operate.
