Air Cadet Robert John Gamble, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gamble, 407 Second street northeast, has been transferred to Kingman air field, Kingman, Ariz., from Santa Ana, Cal. Cadet Gamble is going to take aerial gunnery before taking advanced bombardeering.

WHEREABOUTS
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gamble, 407 2nd street northeast, have received a cable from their son, Bud Gamble, merchant marine, saying he has arrived safely at an overseas destination. He entered the service in July. His wife makes her home in Glendale, Cal. Another son, Cadet Robert J. Gamble, has received the wings of an aerial gunner at Kingman field, Ariz., and is now in New Mexico for advance bombardier training. He entered the army air corps in February, 1943.

APPOINTED FLIGHT OFFICER
Robert J. Gamble, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gamble, 407 2nd N. E., was graduated from Deming army air field, Deming, N. Mex., and appointed flight officer, according to word received from the bombardier school there.

Missing In Action
Flight Officer Robert John Gamble, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gamble, 407 2nd N. E., has been missing in action over Germany since July 31, according to a telegram received here. Officer Gamble was a bombardier on a B-24 Flying Fortress. He was appointed flight officer at Deming army air field, Deming, New Mex., the first part of the year. He entered the service in February, 1943.

R. J. Gamble Was Bombardier on B-17
and Killed in Germany
Robert J. Gamble, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Gamble, 407 2nd N. E., previously listed as missing in action over Munich, Germany, on July 31, is now reported killed in action there on that date, as stated in a telegram received by his parents Thursday.
F/O Gamble was a bombardier on a B-17 and had been in the service since Feb., 1943. He was appointed flight officer a year later. He was a graduate of the Mason City high school with the class of 1941.
Besides his parents he is survived by 3 sisters: Mrs. Edward Thompson, Mrs. Buchl Carmen and Miss Virginia Gamble, all of Mason City; a brother, William T. Gamble, Jr., formerly with the merchant marines, now lives at Duluth, where he is a welder in a shipyard.

Robert John Gamble was born Aug. 22, 1923 to William T. and Mattie Belle Spicer Gamble. He died July 31, 1944 and has a cenotaph in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
