James Fullbright Missing in Action
Cedar Falls – Word has been received by his mother, Mrs. Emmett D. Fullbright, 415 West Third street, that James Earl Fullbright, 18, fireman first class, in the naval reserve, is missing in action. The telegram from the war department did not mention the action or date, it was reported.
Fullbright enlisted and started his training at Farragut, Ida., Aug. 19, 1943, was later sent to Treasure Island, and in December of 1943 was sent overseas. He has served in the south Pacific. He was last heard from on Jan. 5.
Hi father lives in Waterloo, and is at home with his mother is Russell, Patricia, Lois and Karen. Another sister, Mrs. Douglas Pashby, also lives here.

Fullbright enlisted and received boot training at Farragut, Ida., beginning Aug. 9, 1942. he ws sent overseas December, 1943, and has been in the south Pacific. He was last heard from on Jan. 5, 1945.

Jas. Fullbright Killed in Action
Cedar Falls – James Earl Fullbright, 18, fireman first class, of Cedar Falls, was killed in action Jan. 6, 1945, as his hip, a minesweeping destroyer, was entering Lingayen gulf off the island of Luzon in the Philippines, his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Fullbright, 415 West Third street, has been informed by the navy department.
He had previously been reported missing. He had fought at Corregidor and Leyte. Born Aug. 22, 1926, in Charles City, Ia., he had come to Cedar Falls in 1934.
Surviving besides the mother are four sisters, Patricia, Lois and Karen Fullbright and Mrs. Douglas Pashby, and a brother, Russell, all of 415 West Third, and the father, Emmett, Waterloo.
