Three Added to Waterloo List of Dead
Names of three more men were added to the list of Waterloo’s war dead by war department messages to relatives here Saturday.
Killed on Luzon were:
Pfc. Donald M. Thomas, 34.
Pfc. Kenneth E. Diamond, 26.
Killed in Germany:
Pfc. Joseph Hoover, 34.
Private Diamond was killed in action Mar. 27 on Luzon island, while serving with the 128th infantry, 32nd (Red Arrow) division, a war department telegram informed his wife and two sons, Dale, 3, and Dean, 2, of 909 West First street.
Private Diamond, who had been serving overseas since November, 1944, was employed by the John Deere Tractor Co. before entering service Apr. 13, 1944. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts, Cal.
Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Reineck, Ia., the son of Earl J. and Elizabeth Quinn Diamond, he graduated from St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel high school of Eagle Center, Ia., in June, 1937. He married Gladys A. Beck of Hudson, Oct. 10, 1940. They made their home in Waterloo following their marriage.
Besides his parents of Route 1, Hudson and his wife and two sons, are two sisters, Mrs. M. D. Seery, 321 Oak avenue, and Mrs. Donald [Page 22] Rosauer, Route 1, La Porte City, Ia.

Kenneth E. Diamond Memorial on Friday
Memorial services for Pfc. Kenneth E. Diamond will be conducted at 9 a. m. Friday in St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic church, Eagle Center, Ia., with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Duffy, pastor, officiating.
Private Diamond was killed in action Mar. 27 on Luzon island in the Philippines, while serving with the 128th infantry, 32nd (Red Arrow) division.
His wife and two sons, Dale, 3, and Dean, 2, reside at 909 West First street, and his parents, Mr. and Mr. Earl J. Diamond, Route 1, Hudson, Ia.

Expecting Body of Pfc. Earl (sic) Diamond Soon
Hudson, Ia. – (Special) – Mr. and Mrs. Earl Diamond, who live four miles southeast of town, have received word that the body of their son, Pfc. Kenneth Diamond arrived in San Francisco. They expect further information soon as to the time of its arrival here. Pfc. Diamond was killed in action on Luzon Mar. 27, 1945.
