Lt. R. C. Croker of Whiting Wins Promotion in England
An Eighth Air Force Fighter Station Eng.—Promotion from second to first lieutenant has been announced here for Robert C. Croker, 23, of Whiting, Ia., an Eighth air force P-51 pilot.
Lt. Croker is a member of the 339th fighter group commanded by Col. John B. Henry, jr., of San Antonio, Tex. Since his arrival in England, he has participated in numerous bomber escort missions and strafing attacks on important ground targets.
Before enlisting in the army air forces in October, 1942, Lt. Croker was engaged in farming. Lt. Croker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Croker, of Whiting.

Robert Charles Croker was born Dec. 15, 1921 to Richard C. and Eleanor M. Breneman Croker. He died Dec. 9, 1994 and is buried in Saint Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Bode, IA.
Robert served in World War II with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps.
