P. Champlin Dies In West

Former Mason City Man Served in Italy

J. A. Champlin, 1101 W. 2nd street, Clear Lake, received word Wednesday evening of the death of his brother, Major Paul W. Champlin, formerly of Mason City, at Los Angeles, Cal. The body is to brought to Mason City for burial. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Major Champlin entered the service at Mason City in January, 1941, in the officers reserves. He went through the campaigns in Africa, Sicily and Italy.

Major Champlin is survived by his wife and 3 children, Doris, Ruth and Paul Jr., Los Angeles.

Before entering the service Major Champlin was employed at Deckers’ Sporting Goods store. His father, D. M. Champlin, lives in Des Moines.

Rites in Des Moines

Funeral services for Major Paul Champlin, formerly of Mason City, who died in Los Angeles, Cal., last week [February 14], will be held Tuesday at 1 o’clock at Lilly’s funeral home in Des Moines, it was announced Monday. The body was brought by plane from California. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Champlin, 1101 W. 2nd street, Clear Lake, are in Des Moines for the funeral. Burial will be at Indianola [I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Warren County].
