Carstens Dies of Wounds
in French Battle
Friends here Friday were informed that Pvt. Augustus (Bud) Castens, Jr., formerly of Waterloo, died Nov. 5 as a result of wounds received while serving with the infantry in France.
Private Carstens, a graduated of West high school in 1936, moved to Portland, Ore., seven years ago with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Carstens, Sr., where he attended Diesel engineering school prior to entering service two yeas ago.
He had been overseas since April of this year.
Surviving are his parents and one sister, Mary, at Portland.
