Donald Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carter of Nichols, has been promoted to the rank of seaman first class, his parents have been informed. Seaman Carter has been overseas since January, 1943, and is stationed on Caledonia Island.

Donald Edward Carter was born Dec. 20, 1922 to Harold and Della Blanche Christofferson Carter. He died Feb. 7, 2008 and is buried in Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, IA.
Donald served in World War II with the U.S. Naval Air Corps.
