Pvt. Cecil R. Cardwell

 

 

MISSING IN ACTION

Pvt. Cecil R. Cardwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cardwell, 4233 Van Buren street, has been reported missing in action since December 9, according to a telegram received recently from the War Department by his wife, Gwendolynn, 4228 Van Buren street.

Pvt. Cardwell, formerly employed by Holdcroft Transportation company, volunteered May 23, 1944.  He was home on furlough last October and was sent overseas a month later.  He had been transferred to the infantry December 9. 

Three sons, Jerry, Bobby, and Jack are living at home.

Pvt. Cecil Cardwell, First Listed Missing, Is War Prisoner

Pvt. Cecil R. Cardwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cardwell, 4233 Van Buren street, reported missing in action December 9, 1944, is reported a prisoner of war in Germany.  His wife, Gwendolyn, who with their three sons, Jerry, Bobby, and Jack, live at 4233 Van Buren street, received the news from the War Department Wednesday.

Formerly employed by Holdcroft Transportation company, Pvt. Cardwell volunteered May 23, 1944, and was sent overseas in November.  He was a member of an infantry division.
