WINS PROMOTION.
Harvey C. Axel, acting communications sergeant with the 25th infantry division in the South Pacific and son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Axel, 1008 Grandview avenue, Muscatine, has been promoted from private first class to sergeant.
A graduate of Muscatine high school, Sgt. Axel was a machinist with the Federal Engineering Tool and Die Co. in Muscatine when he entered service in February, 1942. Overseas for two years, he is a veteran of the campaigns on Guadalcanal, where the 25th infantry division helped smash Japanese resistance, and Vella La Vella.

Harvey Charles Axel was bon June 23, 1920 to Werner Henry and Clara Marie Henning Axel. He died June 24, 1992 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine, IA.
