Carl Raymond Allen was born to Lena Hansen. He attended the Linn Grove Consolidated High School in Linn Grove, Iowa, and was active in football.
Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1936, in Sioux City, was assigned to the 4th Calvary at Fort Meade, South Dakota and took his basic training with the unit. After basic, he served with the machine gun troop of the 4th Calvary.
In 1939, Carl was transferred to the Medical Detachment of the Letterman General Hospital, San Francisco. In 1943, he was assigned duty in the Persian Gulf Command at Lake Beasle, India.
After returning to the States in November 1945, Carl became Sgt. Major of the 35th Signal Training Battalion at Camp Crowler, Missouri. From there he went to Fort McPherson, Georgia in 1946, and that same year came to Sandia Base, Albuquerque, N.M. At Sandia, he was assigned to the 38th Engineers as Sergeant Major. He now works in the J-4 Section as Chief Clerk.
Among the decorations awarded, are the Good Conduct, American Defense, Pre-Pearl Harbor, African, Middle East, and World War II Victory Ribbons.
Carl married Mary E. Povlsen, 10 November 1941, in San Francisco. To this union were born: Paul H. and Douglas J.
Carl left this world, 11 April 1951, Beaumont Army Hospital, El Paso, Texas. He is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.
