POSTVILLE [Allamakee Co.] – Curtis Abernathy is here from Maxwell Field at Montgomery, Ala., for a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Abernathy.

Curtis Alexander Abernathy was born Apr. 17, 1910 to Earl and Loretta Sheehy Abernathy. He died Oct. 10, 1993 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, IA.
Curtis served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. He was a Liberator bomber pilot and was WIA. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, and the Purple Heart.
