Rudolph Frank “Rudy” Mayr was born Apr. 23, 1914 to Frank Xavier and Frances Bauer Mayr. He died Mar. 10, 1946 and is buried in Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.

Maj. Mayr served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Force, Dental Corps.

Walter John McCoy was born Aug. 12, 1910 to Orren Bartholomew and Hattie Elizabeth Gray McCoy. He died May 5, 1961 and is buried in Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.

Pvt. McCoy served in World War II with the U.S. Army 3615th Quartermaster Truck Company.

James Newton McCracken was born Feb. 13, 1924 to Newton Black and Milda Elnora Hoffeins McCracken. He died Feb. 25, 1945 and is buried in Nishnabotna Cemetery, Manilla, IA.

Cpl. McCracken served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and was KIA in combat operations on Iwo Jima. He was initially buried in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jima and returned to the U.S. for permanent burial in 1948.

Walter Rea McCuen was born Mar. 1918 to Walter B. and Ella Rea McCuen. He died Oct. 24, 1944 (at sea) and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer McCuen served in World War II with the U.S. Navy. He became a POW and died on a Japanese prison ship that was sunk off the China coast. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Victor Howard McGee was born Mar. 22, 1924 to William Francis “Frank" and Maude Alice Tucker McGee. He died May 10, 1945 and is buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA.

Pvt. McGee served with the U.S. Army 307th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division in World War II.

Max Miles Miller was born Oct. 28, 1922 to Chris M. and Helen Jessen Miller. He died Oct. 6, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, IA.

Coxswain Miller served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and USS Tennessee (BB-43) and USS Chevalier (DD-451). He was MIA/FOD/KIA aboard the Chevalier when that vessel was torpedoed and sank. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Melvin Max “Fritz” Miller was born May 1, 1923 to Otto John Carl Frederick and Anna Sophia Stichelberg Miller. He died Nov. 27, 1944 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.

Pvt. Miller served in World War II with the U.S. Army 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and was KIA in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
