Petty Officer Lochner served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and was MIA/KIA/FOD when that vessel was sunk during an engagement with the enemy in the Battle of Sunda Strait. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Sgt. Lowe served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 21st Marine Regiment, 5th Amphibious Corps, Iwo Jima, Japan where he died of wounds received in action. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star “for gallantry in action”.
