Clarence Gerrit Harmsen was born Nov. 4, 1925 to Mike and Katie Cannegieter Harmsen. He died May 29, 1948 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids, IA. 

Clarence served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Cornelius “Neal” Harmsen was born Oct. 17, 1922 to Mike and Katie Cannegieter Harmsen. He died Aug. 11, 1992 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids, IA. 

Neal served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

George Hoiland was born Mar. 23, 1914 to Jans and Tilda Amelia Amundson Hoiland. He died Mar. 19, 1945, was buried at sea, and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 4, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Graceland Cemetery, Madison, SD.

Sgt. Hoiland served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps Marine Fighter Squadron 452 (VFM 452) and flew F4U Corsair and Gruman TF Avenger Aircraft. He was serving aboard the USS Franklin (CV-13) when it was hit by two bombs. There were 31 armed and fueled aircraft on the deck and although the explosions did not sink the ship, 807 were KIA and 487 WIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Velmar H. Horton was born Aug. 1, 1917 to Herbert W. and Mabel A. Causey Horton. He died Apr. 13, 1990 and is buried in Camp Ground Cemetery, Greenville, IL. Sgt. Horton served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Verlon Morris Horton was born Nov. 16, 1918 to Herbert W. and Mabel A. Causey Horton. He died Feb. 14, 1945 and is buried in Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Hamm, Luxembourg. Pvt. Horton served in World War II with the U.S. Army 417th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, 76th Infantry Division. He was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
