James J. Geers was born Feb. 3, 1925 to Herman B. and Elizabeth Bohnenkamp Geers. He died Aug. 7, 1944 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, West Point, IA. He was initially buried in the 2nd Marine Division Cemetery on Tinian and returned to the U.S. in 1948.
Pvt. Geers served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 8th Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Tinian.
