Robert H. Nead was born Oct. 24, 1921 to Harry W. and Della G. Nead. He died May 26, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Sgt. Nead served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 881st Bomber Squadron, 500th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a radar operator aboard B-29 Super-fortress #44-69666. He was MIA/KIA when shot down over Tokyo, Japan and parachuted from his aircraft and was taken as a POW. He died when fire destroyed the Tokyo Military Prison where he was being held. His remains were not identified. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
