Duane Elmer Hayes was born Mar. 14, 1917 to Clifford and Ferol Elizabeth Young Hayes. He died Nov. 30, 1982 and is buried in Murdoch-Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Sgt. Hayes served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

John Duane “Duane” Hayes was born Sept. 22, 1920 to George and Loretta Alice Knapp Hayes. He died Oct. 5, 1942/FOD Dec. 4, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Hayes served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA in the Guadalcanal area and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Monte H. Hayward was born Aug. 30, 1916 to Glen W. and Bertha P. Noble Hayward. He died May 29, 1949 and is buried in Fort Richardson National Cemetery, Anchorage, Alaska.

Sgt. Hayward served in World War II with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and died as the result of drowning while in the line of duty.

Wilbur Edward Heise was born Nov. 3, 1918 to Albert C. and Amanda Harnisch Heise. He died Dec. 26, 2005 and is buried in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City, IA.

Pvt. Heise served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 8th Air Service Group.

Gerald Eugene Hicok was born Mar. 1, 1921 to Earl C. and Ella A. Matthews Hicok. He died July 26, 2006 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, IA.

Pvt. Hicok served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

Laurel Dillon Holdridge was born in 1912 to Clark H. and Frances Edith Greenley Holdridge. He died Jan. 7, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippine and in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Chief Petty Officer Holdridge served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.

Lester Evan Holmes was born July 24, 1919 to Legrand and Chloe Terry Holmes. He died May 22, 1967 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua. IA.

Col. Holmes served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He also served in Korea and Vietnam with the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron, 504th Tactical Air Support Group, 7th Air Force and became MIA May 22, 1967 when his plane was struck by enemy fire over Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam. His remains were recovered in 1998 and identified in 2003. He was returned to Nashua, IA for burial with full military honors.

Some of his awards and decorations include the Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Gerald Jasper Huffman was born Apr. 2, 1918 to Jasper and Fannie L. Wright Huffman. He died July 17, 1986 and is buried in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.

Chief Petty Officer Huffman served in in World War II with the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. He also served in Korea.

Oscar H. Huffman was born Aug. 29, 1910 to Jasper and Fannie L. Wright Huffman. He died Nov. 1, 1992.

Oscar served in World War II with the U.S. Army 341st and 1776th Engineer Companies.

Warren Merrill Huffman was born Oct. 4, 1920 to Jasper and Fannie Huffman. He died Sept. 12, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.

Petty Officer Huffman served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rowan (DD-405) and was MIA/KIA when that ship was hit by a torpedo from a German E-boat and sank in less than a minute. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Iven W. Hults was born Feb. 13, 1919 to Paul and Leone Whitson Hults. He died Dec, 1974 and is buried in Beckwith Cemetery, Nilesville, IA.

Sgt. Hults served in World War II with the U.S. Army 4th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron.
