This list was compiled using the following as sources: "Sioux City Church Directory; 1893", "History of the Counties of Woodbury and Plymouth Counties, 1890-91", and the 75th Anniversary Edition of the Globe (28 Apr 1977) newspaper of the Sioux City Catholic Diocese. No dates of organization could be located for the Churches at the end of the list, however, they did appear in the 1893 Directory.

2 Aug 1857 - First Presbyterian, 6th and Nebraska Streets - 1st Pastor - Rev. Thomas M. Chestnut. Other Pastors -Revs. Stephen Phelps, A.E. Smith, E.H. Avery, George Knox, and H.D. Jenkins. From our research this was the first Church organized, housed, and with services conducted.

1857 - First Congregational, 8th & Nebraska Streets

1857 - St. Thomas Episcopal, 7th & Nebr., thence to 12th & Douglas. Rectors -Revs. M. Hoyt, George W. Pratt, W.W. Esterbrook, L. Ramsey, Richard Ellerby, William Richmond, & George H. Cornell. 1859 Vestrymen - James M. Bacon, H.C. Bacon, William R. Smith, John H. Charles, John P. Allison, and George Weare. 1890 Officials - Luther C. Sanborn, William D. Irvine, J.C. French, W.H. Beck George D. Hicks, J.H. Bolton, J.M.B. Floyd, and H.G. Pierce.

1858 - Methodist Episcopal, 7th & Nebraska (1st on Douglas St, between 8th & 9th, then at 6th & Pierce). Pastors: Revs. Whitfield, R.C. Glass, John Hogarth Lozier, George Haddock and W.D. Johnson. (Rev. Haddock was shot to death because of his strong Prohibition leadership)

1863 - St. Mary's Catholic Church, Located first at West 7th & Perry, then to 6th & Pierce, and finally, to 10th & Douglas. First Pastor - Father Tracy. When St. Mary's
moved to 10th & Douglas it became known as Cathedral of Northwest Iowa Diocese, and in 1904 the name was changed to the Cathedral of the Epiphany.

1872 - Trefaldighet, West 6th & Bluff St, Pastor - Rev. K. Skyburg.

1874 - First Swedish Baptist, 10th & Virginia streets, Pastor - L.J. Ahlstrom.

1874 - First Swedish Mission (Lutheran), 7th & Court, Pastor - Rev. F.O. Hultman.

1875 - St. Paul's Evangelical, address unknown, Pastor - Rev. C. Runge.

1881 - Norwegian-Danish Methodist Episcopal, Iowa Street, Pastor - Rev. James Peterson.

1884 - African Methodist Episcopal, 6th & Main, Pastor - Rev. S. McDonnell.

1884 - St. John's (Norwegian), 6th & Court, Pastor - Rev. L. Harrisville.

1885 - St. Paul's Episcopal, West 6th & Center, Rectors - William Richmond, W.E. Jacob, and E.H. Gaynor.

1885 - Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, address unknown.

1885 - Zion Norwegian, 7th between Court street & Iowa street, Pastor - Rev. H. Yderstad.

1886 - Haddock Memorial, 5th & Steuben, Pastor - Rev. J.B. Kilbourn.

1886 - German Methodist, Steuben street between 3rd & 4th Streets, Superintendent -Rev. G.A. Moll.

1886 - Immanuel Church, Oto, between 5th & 6th Streets, Pastor - Rev. A.C. Blackman.

1886 - Trinity English Lutheran, 11th & Nebraska, Pastor - D.L. Mackenzie.

1887 - Second Presbyterian, Cook Street between 4th & 5th, Pastor - Rev. H.C. Herring.

1887 - Mayflower Congregational, Center St, between 6th & 7th, Pastor - Rev. R.W. Jamison.

1887 - St. Boniface, West 5th & Main, Pastor - Father J.A. Gerleman,

1888 - Third Presbyterian, no address, Pastor - Rev. H.C. Herring.

1888 - Pilgrim Congregational, 7th between Wall & Iowa, Pastor - Rev. J.E. McNamara.

1888 - Grace Methodist, Morning Side, Pastor - Rev. R.G. Glass. Sabbath School -Superintendent - I.N. Stone, Mrs. I.G. Whitfield, Rev. Wilmot Whitfield, Mrs. R.C. Glass, Miss Lula Glass, Mrs. Lizzie A. Andrews, & Mr. & Mrs. A.J. Simmons. Trustees - R.C. Peters, James A. Jackson, F.N. Ludlow, Wilmot Whitfield, John T. Cheeney, R.C. Glass, E.D. Allen, H.E. Douglas, r T.H. Stevens, and A.S. Garretson.

1888 - Fourth Baptist, 4th St between Howard and Clark, Pastor - R.W. Rees.

1888 - St. Rose of Lima, 8th & Iowa (the name was changed to St. Joseph's in 1890, and the building was completed in 1899).

1888 - Grace Reformed, 6th & Cook, Pastor -Rev. F. Wetzel.

1888 - First Christian (services in the Courthouse) Pastor - Rev. R.A. Thompson.

1888 - Emerson Heights Christian, (address unknown) Pastor - Rev. R.A. Thompson.

1889 - Calvary (Episcopal), Morning Side, Pastor - Rev. E.H. Gaynor.

1889 - German Evangelical, Jennings Street, Pastor - Rev. W. Jones.

1889 - First Unity, Douglas Street, Pastors -Revs. Mary Saffort & Elinor Gordon.

1889 - L'Union Francaise, 7th between Pear & Water streets, Pastor Father M.C, Sullivan, (name changed to St, John Baptist Catholic Society of Sioux City, and in 1912 changed again to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church – commonly known as St. Jean's).
