Henry Palzer was sentenced to a five year term in the Minnesota penitentiary for the murder of his son. The court, when pronouncing this sentence, considered his alcoholisn, and the fact his deed culminated a two day binge that left no memory of the shooting. The St. Francis Parish was incorporated on Jan. 1, 1912, with the following as officials: Archbishop J. J. Keane, president; Rev. M. J. Thiltgen, vice president; L. A. Meyer, treasurer; Philip Wagner, sec'y; and Rt. Rev. Roger Ryan, director. Only the secretary and treasurer offices are elective. Postmaster Riveland has tendered his resignation; he will accept a position with the Ossian Bank. John Moe and W. E. Cornell are circulating petitions for the postmastership. (John Moe received the appointment.) Mrs. Kaupel announced a "going out of business" sale, and offered these bargains; cloth bound books—10¢ ; lead pencils—6 for 5¢, water tumblers--2 for 5¢ ; neckties —9¢; lamps—19¢; china plates, bowls, platters, pitchers—10¢ ; toilet soap—2 for 5 ¢ ; and gum—3 pkgs. f or 5¢. The secretary of the school board, Will Helwig, reported expenditures for the school year as: $1498.50, teacher's fund; $1379.94, contingency fund. Miss Maude Zoller has been hired as principal of the school. Miss Anna McGary will again teach the intermediate grades and Miss Emry the primary room. The graduates for this year were: Ruby Ean, Lillian Emry, Lena Knutson and Florence and Myrtle McManus. De Sales school graduated two students: Ursula Meyer and Zepherine Fleischer. Two tickets of candidates stood for the municipal election with the following winning office: T. F. Schmitz, mayor; Frank Frantzen, treas.; J. E. Boyle, assessor; O. L. Gunderson, E. H. Anderson, G.
