Twenty persons visited the school during the term and although the roads were bad, several persons visited the school the last day. The school had literary exercises in the afternoon, and as we were about to be dismissed for the last time, the pupils surprised the teacher by presenting him with a fine autograph album, which was very much appreciated. The school closed to the satisfaction of both parents and pupils.

Misses Beeman and Clevenger could teach a fall term of school and then complete the course, while some of the others would find it necessary to review one or two studies of the seventh year. Although there will be no promotions to the upper department, nearly all will be advanced on grade in their studies. If we should never again meet the children of the Lacona schools as your teachers, we can wish you nothing better than that our successors may be good instructors as a very large majority of you have been good pupils during our connection with the school, and if we continue, we hope that you will meet next September fully resolved to work with us even more earnestly than you have in the past.
