A STORY OF LOVE AND WAR

FROM MAIL CORRESPONDENCE   surname index

An exceptional relationship between mother and son, and the words between the lines that told how love and lives were shaped by the war. A great manuscript for the devoted reader. A true reflection, best I can type it into words for viewing.  -Deb Barker

Research in the Wapello County courthouse, found several interesting things about this family. While I could not find LeGrand's birth certificate, I did view his death certificate. On his death certificate, Margaret Smith, had listed his father as UNK Reinier, and his birth as Ottumwa.  A Quick look at the death certificate for Henrietta, showed her status as divorced. A look at the marriages book for 1914-1915, recorded was a marriage for Noah Reinier of Keokuk County and Henrietta Loring on Feb 8, 1915..

My apologies to any living relatives of Mr Reinier whom did not know of this first marriage and child. My intentions are to document these historical letters, and if any family is present, allow them the opportunity, to see them.
