I just received some information
on Solomon FOREMAN, who was brother to my
ancestor, Hiram FOREMAN. They
lived in Shelby Co IN, where their father,
John or John Peter died in 1830's.
Their mother was Margaret ?. I have a
file on some court records in
Shelby Co IN, pertaining to the settlement of
Peter's estate, as well as others
in the family.
This new information leads me to Taylor
Co IA, where Solomon FOREMAN and
his wife, Rachel GOLDING lived and
died. It is said eleven families,
including two of Rachel's brothers'
families, and her mother came as well
to IA. They came to IA in 1854. Solomon
and Rachel went to IL in 1860, but
came back to IA the next year. She
is believed to be the dau of Andrew and
Catherine (BATES) GOLDING, and was
b 1815 IN. She died in Taylor Co and is buried Mohler Cemetery, as is Solomon.
Their ch were Joseph, Alfred, Cyntha,
Emons, Albert, and Matilda, married
1870 to Ambrose Lambert COBB.

Seeking information on James
M. ROUSE and Olive (SHUM) MARCELL or
MARSELL. Married at ages
50 and 42 on December 25, 1881. While the
marriage took place in Page

some of her family may have
lived in Taylor County. Olive was born in
Quebec, Canada, raised in Wallingford,
VT, lived much of her adult life in
Iowa. We know nothing
more of James Rouse than the above. Thank you!

ARNOLD (spelled ARNALL on 1860 Taylor Co. census)
The Alanson Arnold family homesteaded in Mason
(Twp?), Taylor Co., IA about 1858-1863. Son Abraham (Abram) and Abram's
wife, Emma lived in the household. They came to IA by covered wagon
after their marriage in Macomb Co., MI in Jan. 1858. Abram &
Emma had Odell b. in May 1859, Mary b. in July 1860,
and Emmet b. Feb 1862. Emmet may be
Alonzo E. on birth record.
The family moved back to MI when Abram enlisted in Hawleyville, Page Co., IA for service in the 11th MO calvary, so I'm assuming they lived near the Taylor/Page Co. line. Abram died in Little Rock, AR, while serving as a Union soldier.
Does Taylor Co. have birth records prior to
1880? Was there a church where the births might have been registered?
I would like to have some record of the birth of my g grandfather, Emmet
Arnold. Are there homestead records from the period 1858-1863?
Did the family live there long enough to own the property they homesteaded
or was it given up because of the War? Any information would be very
much
appreciated.

INNIS, HANKS, COX, ZIMMER:
I am attempting to find information on Isaac Innis
who I believe was married to Mary (Hanks) Zimmer. Mary Innis is buried in the Ladoga Cemetery by George Hanks who I believe is her first husband. If anyone has any information on Isaac and his marriage to Mary as well as the names and birthdates of their children, and where Isaac might be buried, I would appreciate receiving it.
I have a picture of Irene Innis with Merle and Pearl Cox at Mary Innis' gravesite at Ladoga. Another picture is a group picture with Irene Innis, Merle & Pearl Cox, James Logan Cox, Nancy (Zimmer) Cox, a Mr. and Mrs. Hanks from Ravenwood, Missouri (not sure which Hanks this is) and an Ida Zimmer. It appears to have been taken on the same day. Merle and Pearl are my great aunts and James & Nancy Cox are my great grandparents but I am unsure who the
other folks are. If anyone knows, please contact me. I would love to hear from you. Thank you.Flowe70597@aol.com

Pierce Hello!
My name is Karina Pierce, and I have reached the end of my wits on what to
do about my research. The last known record of any sort I have for these to
particular individuals is the small town of Gravity. A Raymond Wilson
Pierce and Jane Lee Pierce lived there around 1888 when there son was born
Raymond Robert Pierce. They moved sometime before 1900 when they both
perished in the flood of Galveston TX. Raymond Robert Pierce survived this
tradgey. There was a supposed fire in Gravity's town hall that consumed all
the records for these individuals but I can't find one record supporting
that idea. Can you please help me? I need to confirm these facts but
haven't been able to for almost 4 years now, any bit of information would be
wonderful. Thank you so much for you time!Karina Pierce karmel78@msn.com
Thompson - Tilly/Twilly Hello,
My name is Leen Smith and I am researching ancestors in Page Co. I am stuck
at this generation having not known where in Iowa they lived until
yesterday. I am not sure if all the children in this family were born near
Clarinda. Here is all the information I have on my Thompson family.
Andrew Thomas Thompson b-30 May 1833 in PA
Elvira A. Tilly/Twitty (there has been some discrepancy on the last name)
b-1 Apr 1841 in Kentucky
Andrew and Elvira were probably married about 1862 (not sure though)
Children:
William Joe b-1863 in Iowa
John Albert b-1 Nov 1865 Iowa
Alvida b -1866 Iowa
Melvin Boone b -1868 Clarinda, Iowa
Nancy Jenny b- 1869 Iowa
They had 4 more children after this but they were born in Kansas. I believe
they must have moved to Kansas around 1870. I have not been able to locate
them in the Iowa census. I have found them in the 70 & 80 census in Kansas.
I guess they weren't a family unit in 1860. Anyway I would love to clear up
the mystery of Elvira's last name and find their parents names as well. I
know from the 1880 census that Andrew's parents were both born in PA and
Elvira's mother was born in KY and her father in PA. Anything you can find
would be great!! Thank you so much for your interest and time. Leen Smith
