Rolla
E. Brammer, 72, passed away at Rosary hospital in
Corning, Iowa, Tuesday afternoon.
Survivors
are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Brammer of Kent, two
daughters, Mrs. Wayne McFee of Lenox, Mrs. Mary Rink
of Winterset, two sons, Joe Brammer
of
Sharpsburg and Dick Brammer of Lenox, 28
grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Two
sons, Rex and Sonny, preceded him in death.
Funeral
services will be held at Bender's Funeral Home in Lenox at 2 o'clock Friday.
Burial will be at Graceland cemetery in
Creston.

Marvin Deaver, former resident of Lenox, passed away at
Lincoln General Hospital July 21, 1972.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel in January 1972. He is survived by
sons, Haldean Deaver of Del
Rio, Texas, Charles of Lincoln, and daughters, Kathryn Collins of
Washington
state. Three grandchildren, Clyde Deaver, Pam Collins
and Linda Collins and one brother, Gail, of Santa Paula, Calif., and one
sister, Louella Ranck of
Corning, la.,
also
survive.
Services
were held in Lincoln on July 25th with interment in Lincoln.

has been received by relatives of the death of Dr. Claire E. Hawthorne, 82, of
Sunnyvale, California on July 3rd.
He
was a retired! minister in the United Presbyterian Church and served as pastor
in Clarinda for a time. His wife, Viva, is a sister of the late H. Roy Long.

Mabel
Jenkins, 87, died at the Lenox Nursing Home Thursday, August 17th, after an
illness of several years.
Mabel
Barnes Jenkins, daughter of Loren and Anna Barnes was born August 7, 1885 in Nebraska.
She moved to Iowa with her parents while young and had spent the rest of her
life
in the Lenox vicinity.
She
was united in marriage to George Edward Jenkins on July 4, 1905 in St. Joseph,
Mo., and to this union were born six children: Edith, Lillian, Mary, Jennie,
Myron and George.
Mr.
and Mrs. Jenkins spent their life on farms near Lenox and moved to town about
ten years ago. Mr. Jenkins preceded her in death in October, 1965 after a
marriage of sixty years.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Lillian.
Survivors
include her children, Mrs. Edith Mees of Oak Park,
Ill., Mrs. Mary Vaughn of Fremont, Cal., Mrs. Jennie Brown of Oildale, Cal,
Myron Jenkins of Wilmington, Cal.,
and
George Jenkins of Coquille, Oregon. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Goldie
Stevens of Sheldon, Wisconsin, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren other
relatives and many
friends.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, Aug, 19th at 2 pm from the Bender Funeral Home
with Rev. Floyd Newbrough, pastor of the United
Methodist Church officiating.
Bearers
were Lewis Rice, Orval Plants, Louis Brown,. Sam Wurster, Dick Brammer and Claude
Reynolds.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Lulu Killinger, 79, a long time resident of Lenox, died
Monday, at the hospital in Corning, where she had been a patient since Friday.
Lulu
Rachel Klllinger, daughter of John and Nancy Killinger was born January 29, 1893, at Elliot, Iowa, and
died at the Rosary hospital in Corning July 10, 1972 at the
age
of 79 years.
Her
home has been near Lenox since 1918 and she and her brother, Ralph, had lived
together on the farm just north of town.
She
united with the Methodist Church when a young girl and was recently honored by
the Lenox Church as being a member for more than fifty years.
She
is survived by one sister, Dora Tripp of Kent, three brothers, Ralph of Lenox,
John Raymond of Somerset, Kentucky, and Gordon of Gainesville, Florida.
Lulu
loved her flowers and garden and enjoyed visiting with friends. She will be
missed by all who knew her.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., from the Bender Funeral Home
with Rev. Floyd Newbrough of the United Methodist
Church officiating.
Music
was furnished by Norma Paymal, Marilyn Beck and
Billie Jean Barker.
Bearers
were Tip Lucas, Louis Brown, Alvin Brown, Walter Brokaw, Wayne O'Riley and Clifford Preston.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Herchel Kloke, 42, of Mendota, Ill., stepson of Weldon
(Tubby) Hale, died July 1st of a heart attack.
Survivors
include his wife JoAnn, daughter Margaret and a son
Blaine, mother Peggy Lopez, David Hale, and Tubby Hale, many other friends and
relatives.

Klarah Beck LaMaster, 79, long time resident of Lenox, died
June 27th. at the Lenox Nursing Home in this city.
The
daughter of Marie Barbara and George Beck, she was born March 17, 1873 at
Clearfield, Iowa, and departed this life at the age of seventy-nine years.
She
attended school at Lenox where Mary Martin was her first teacher. She graduated
from high school in 1912.
She
was united in marriage to Walter LeMaster and he
preceded her in death in 1951.
She
taught in the rural school and at Kent, after her marriage, and was a member of
the Platte Center Presbyterian Church and showed her love for the church by
acting as
church
janitor for a number of years.
Since
1951 she has made her home with her sister Alice, and they had a wonderful life
together.
Even
though she had no children of her own, John Hancock was as her own son.
She
leaves the following relatives: three sisters, Mary K. Brandt of West Liberty, Elanora Schriefer of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Alice Hancock of Lenox, nieces, Helen Brandt of Milwaukee, Wisc., Hermettna and Martha
Brandt of Chicago, Ill., and a nephew, John Hancock of Phoenix, Arizona, some
cousins and many friends.
Funeral
services were conducted Saturday, July 1st at 2 pm from Bender Funeral Home
with Rev. Floyd Newbrough, pastor of the United
Methodist Church officiating.
Bearers
were Ron Fulk, Orvin Bush,
Dale Purdum, Glen Douglas, Darrell Reynolds and Homer Teatsworth.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Funeral
services for Lee Brittian Parsons, 70, of Bedford,
held August 4th at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, were conducted by
Carl Cummings and Rev. Ronald
Kinzler.
Mr. Parsons died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines July 31, 1972. Interment was
at Memory Cemetery, New Market.
Lee Brittian Parsons, son of Jay Myron and Mia Wilson Parsons,
was born in New Market, Iowa, February 24, 1902.
On
February 22, 1929, he was united in marriage to Alta May O'Dell at Shenandoah,
Iowa. The love and devotion to each other carried them through war and rumblings
of war, the
depression,
the great blizzards of the years 1929, 1936 and 1960 and two major crop
failures.
Lee
was reared in town, but his great love for farming found him at an early age
working for farmers in the area. He gained the respect of many for his ability,
his honesty and doing a. job well.
He
was reared in a Christian home and was baptized at the Baptist Church in New
Market and, attended grade and high school in New Market.
During
the years they farmed they lived for 16 years on a farm south o>f Ladoga
then one year north of New Market before buying a farm near Conway where they
lived for 19
years.
Many long hours he and his wife worked diligently together to make it a
convenient and beautiful farm home. Due to health conditions they sold the farm
in 1965 and moved
to
an acreage in north Bedford where they have lived for the past seven and
one-half years.
He
was elected as director of the Clarinda Production Credit Assoc. and served for
over ten years. For the past four years he has done farm inspection for the
association for parts of Taylor and Adams Counties. This work he enjoyed for it
kept him up on all the modern trends of farming and the raising of livestock.
He stored the respect of many he came in contact with in this work.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William, and a sister, Estelle
Huddle.
He
is survived by his wife, Alta, two sisters, Mrs. Burnham Wilson of Waukee,
Iowa, and Mrs. Grace Fitzsimmons of Jefferson, Mo., a brother, Myron R. Parsons
of New Market, one brother-in-law, Burnham and two sisters-in-law, Elsie and
Delia, three nieces, Mrs. Bill Sollock of St. Paul,
Minn., and Mrs. Gary Hutcheson of Clarinda and Mrs. Bernard Corbin
of
Red Oak, four nephews, Merle Parsons of New Market, Dale Fitzsimmons of
Jefferson, Mo., and Myron and Paul Huddle of Champaign, Ill., his wife's family
who loved him as their own and a host of friends and neighbors.
Lee
was a kind and loving husband and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and
loved him.

Word
was received here announcing the death of the Rev. Raymond Risden,
a former pastor of the Salem Church of the Brethren.
Rev. Risden passed away July 5th. Services were held in the Maitland Church of the Brethen, Maitland, Pennsylvania July 8th.
Interment was at the Fairmont Memorial
Park Cemetery, Alliance, Ohio.
Rev Risden was 59 years of age.

Mrs.
Mary Roe, 82, a longtime resident of Lenox, died at a Corning Nursing home
Thursday.
Mary Cipra was born August 6, 1809 in Westmoreland County,
Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary Hoseck Cipra and passed away at the age of 82 years, 11 months
and
21 days.
At
an early age the family moved to Austin, Minn. She was united in marriage to
Jess O. Roe on June 14, 1914 at Flaxton, North
Dakota. In 1915 they moved to the Lenox vicinity,
where
they both spent the rest of their lives.
To
this union seven children were born, Grace Alexander of Kansas City, Mo.,
Marjory Paton of Reinbeek, Iowa, John of New Castle,
Pa., Dean of Redfield, Iowa, Gene of Grinnell,
Iowa,
Bonnie Ridgley of Miami, Florida and Doris Key of Lenox.
In
addition to her children, she is survived by three sons-in-law, 3
daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren and one great grandson.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joseph Cipra,
her husband Jess on Mar. 13, 1945, and her son-in-law, Alan Paton of Reinbeck.
Mrs.
Roe was a member of the Church of Christ of Lenox.
Funeral
services were held at the Bender Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., with
Rev. Don Bailey, officiating.
Bearers
were Steve Roe, Allan Key, Mike Key, Jack Roe, Tom Lynam and Kurtis Brown.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Final
rites were held at the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.,
for Orval Shafer, 69, who died in Nebraska July 4th.
Orval L. Shafer, son of Samuel L. and Harriett M. Shafer, was born August 22, 1902
in Ringgold County, la., and departed this life in the Bergen Mercy hospital in
Omaha, Nebraska
July
4, 1972 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 12 days.
He
was the oldest of six children and was preceded in death by his father and
mother and one half brother, Chester Keller.
He
leaves to mourn his passing 4 sisters and one brother. They are Opal Baxter of
Omaha, Nebr., Myrtle Cummings of Omaha, Harold Shafer of Des Moines, Marie
Neely of Creston, and Florence Camden of Lenox, several nieces and nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Rev.
Don Briley of the Prescott Christian Church,
officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Mildred Walter, Diane Stanger and Carole Stanger.
Bearers
were Dick Shafer, Harold Shafer, James Camden, Ronald Neely, Darwin Delehoy and Reed Helm.
Burial was in Bethel cemetery at
Diagonal, Iowa.

Alva
(Al) Smith, 90, of Lenox, died Monday evening at a nursing home in Creston
where he had been a patient for a little more than a week.
Mr.
Smith had lived in Lenox most of his life and was a retired blacksmith.
He
is survived by three sons, Floyd Smith of Lebanon, Mo., Harold Smith of
Anadarko, Oklahoma and Orville Smith of Lenox. His wife preceded him in death.
Funeral
services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Bender Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Lenox cemetery.

Charles
E. Stark, 75, former publisher of the Time Table, died suddenly July 1, 1972 at
his home on East Temple St.
Charles
Edwin Stark was born Oct. 19, 1894 in Grant City, Mo., the fourth of five
children born to Calvin and Elisabeth Stark.
At
an early age, he moved with his family to Versailles, Indiana. The family later
returned to Grant City, where he finished the eighth grade in school. After the
age of 16, he
worked
in a cement plant, a baby carriage factory and as a stable hand and farm worker
in the wheat fields of Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas. He worked as a
streetcar
conductor
in Toledo, Ohio, before the outbreak of World War I. He enlisted in the U. S.
Army serving first in the Cavalry and then in the artillery. He fought in the
battles of Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel and Argonne,
ending his term overseas in a hospital where he was treated for gas poisoning.
In
the 1920's he went to Rock River, Wyo., where he learned the printing trade.
Later he was hired as a linotype operator by the weekly newspaper in Edina, Mo.
He was employed
by
the Grant City Times-Tribune in 1927 and later became a partner in the firm.
He
married Zelma Fletchall of Grant City on June 22,
1930. The couple made their home in Grant City until 1948 and had two sons,
Charles and Joe. Mr. Stark purchased the
LaPlata,
Mo., Home Press in 1948 and published the newspaper four years.
He
purchased the Lenox Time Table in 1952 and published the newspaper until 1966
when he retired.
He
was a member of the American Legion and received his 50-year pin from the
organization in 1970. He was a member of the Isadora Church of Christ near
Grant City. For
a
time, he was a member of the Rotary club and the Commercial Club in Lenox.
He
is survived by his widow, two sons, daughters-in-law, Ruth Jean and Elise, and
a brother, Percy of Toledo, Ohio.
A
sister, Calla Cloud, and brothers Ross and Horace, preceded him in death.
Funeral
services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox
with Rev. James McMarrow officiating.
Music
was furnished by Mildred Walter and Ruth Boltinghouse.
Bearers were Joe Trost, Byron Brown, Roland Walter,
Claude Reynolds, Albert Nicholson and Clarence Haering,

Andrew
J. Stoaks, a1 long-time resident of Lenox, died at
his home Sunday, July 16th,
Mr. Stoaks, son of Fred and Sarah J. Stoaks,
was born in Adams County on June 5, 1885. He was 87 at the time of his death.
His
entire life was spent in farming until his retirement to Lenox where he spent
the remainder of his life.
He
was united in marriage to Lulu Mercer on August 12, 1903 and to this union four
children were born, Veldeva Fonner of Sidell, Ill., Marvin of Maryville, Mo., Yemen of
Sacramento, Calif., and Donald of Oakland, Iowa.
His
wife Lulu preceded him in death January 9, 1971 after a marriage of more than
62 years.
He
was a member of the Lenox United Methodist Church and was recently honored as
having been a member for more than 59 years. Mr. Stoaks served the church
as
an usher for more than 40 years and on the official board for many years.
In
addition to his children he is survived by a son-in-law, three
daughters-in-law, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters,
Dora Caskey of Lenox and Pearl
Shaw
of Spokane, Wash.
Three
brothers, Fred, Charles and George preceded him in death.
Funeral
services were held at the United Methodist Church in Lenox Tuesday, July 18th
at 2 p.m., with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.
Music
was furnished by Billie Jean Barker, Helen Brokaw and Norma Paymal.
Bearers
were Orville Rogers, Clarence Olson, Reldon Ambrose,
Harold Welch, Donald Tully and Howard Rogers.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Miss
Mary Wuriter, 76, a former Lenox resident, died
Monday at the Lenox Nursing Home.
She
was the daughter of Gottlob and Catherine Wurster and was born January 1, 1898 on a farm southwest of
Lenox. She moved to Creston in 1913 and
lived
there until April, 1972, when she moved to the nursing home with her twin
sister, Katharine.
In
addition to her sister she is survived by two nieces, June Travis and Alice
Payton, both of Colville, Washington, and a nephew, Ronald Wurster of Lenox, also one cousin, Carrie
Roots
of Anita, Iowa.
She
was preceded ha death by her parents and a brother, Charles Wurster.
Funeral
services were held at the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox Wednesday afternoon at 2
pm with Rev. Floyd Newbrough, pastor of the United
Methodist Church, officiating.
Music
was furnished by Dianna Stoner, Carole Stanger and Marcia Bender.
Bearer
were Fred Woolley, Marion Travis, Clyde Belding, Leland Wurster,
Russell Wurster and Bernard Weckman.
Burial was in Graceland cemetery,
Creston, Iowa.
