Death Calls Mrs. Brock
Friends at Conway will read with sadness the following obituary notice of Mrs. Ada Lake Brock, a former well known resident of Conway. Mrs. Brock is a sister of A. [lbert] E. Lake of Bedford and will be remembered by many of the older residents of this place, where she spent her girlhood and young womanhood. The obituary is taken from the Rupert, Idaho, News, the place of her late residence.
After a lingering illness, patiently borne, the Angel of Death called Mrs. W.[illiam] A. [lexander] Brock to her heavenly reward Friday evening, January 2.
The deceased had been in ill health for several years, and for the past sixteen months had been an invalid, confined to her bed. During all these months she had suffered uncomplainingly, under the loving care given her by her helpmate of nearly thirty-three years, W. [illiam] A. [lexander] Brock.
Adda [Ada] Wesley Lake was born in Topsfield, Mass., on March 27, 1860, and was married to W. [illiam] A. [lexander] Brock at Conway, Iowa, on March 21, 1887. Spending the first twenty-one years of her life in Massachusetts, with her family she moved to Iowa, where she entered college at Shenandoah, afterwards teaching school in that state. Her education and training especially prepared her for the excellent service, which she freely gave in building up the best life of each community in which she lived.
With her husband and son, the deceased came to Rupert on April 22, 1907, and resided here until her death. She was a worker [in] the Methodist church, until her health gave way, was an ardent charter member of the Foreign Missionary society of the church and was known for her many acts of kindness.
Besides her husband, W. [illiam] A. [lexander] Brock, and son George A. [lbert], she leaves two brothers to mourn her loss, A. [lbert] [E. Lake of Bedford, and H.[erbert] L. Lake living in Sparks, Oklahoma and one grandson, George Robert Brock. Jr.
Many friends paid their last respects to the deceased at the funeral, held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, the beautiful floral tributes showing the esteem in which the deceased was held. The remains were laid to rest in Rupert cemetery.
